Upperlip
One area, five sessions, done.
Small, precise, fast. If upperlip is your one concern, this is the focused option. The x5 course is where permanence kicks in.
What to expect.
Under a minute of active treatment — a few quick passes, mild stings, finished. If this is your one concern, you're in and out in five minutes. No real downtime; keep makeup off the area for 24 hours.
Results timeline.
Noticeable thinning by session two; most clients stop needing any home-removal by session four. The x5 course at £90 is the cheapest per-session lifetime solution for a persistent annoyance. Hormone-responsive growth may need annual maintenance thereafter.
Questions, answered.
Does it hurt?
Upperlip feels like a warm rubber band flicking the skin — enough to notice, not enough to dread. Most clients read their phone through it. The sensation is briefest on fine-hair areas (upperlip, chin); slightly more on dense or coarser patches. Jas cools the skin in passes, so by session two or three most clients find it easier than the first, as the hair thins and the device needs less energy to target what remains.
Can I book if I've been in the sun or on a sunbed?
No — and this matters. Active tan (from sun, sunbed, or gradual self-tan) changes how the laser reads the skin and risks burns or pigmentation. You need four weeks clear of UV exposure and two weeks clear of fake tan before Upperlip. If you're booked and your skin has changed since the consultation, message Jas before the appointment — rescheduling costs nothing, a burn costs months of recovery.
How many sessions do I actually need, and why the x5 course?
Hair grows in three phases — only one (anagen) is laser-responsive. That's why single sessions thin rather than clear, and why 4–6 weeks between sessions matches the cycle for most skin types. The x5 course (£90) is priced for the number of sessions that gets Upperlip to near-permanent reduction for most clients. Some people need a touch-up at 18–24 months; others don't. You can always start with a single session (£20) to see how your skin responds before committing.
Are there medications that rule me out?
A short list. Roaccutane / isotretinoin requires a 6-month gap after your last dose. Certain antibiotics (tetracyclines) and photosensitising herbal supplements (St John's Wort) raise burn risk — pause for two weeks before a session, or reschedule. Blood thinners, hormone treatments, and most prescription medications are fine; Jas will ask you through a short health form at the consultation and flag anything relevant. Bring your current medication list to the first appointment.
What if my hair is hormone-driven — PCOS, post-pregnancy, or menopausal growth?
Hormone-driven hair responds to Upperlip but needs honest expectations. The x5 course reduces what's there; if the underlying hormonal driver is still producing new growth, you'll need maintenance sessions (typically every 6–12 months, sometimes more for active PCOS). It's not the laser failing — it's biology ongoing. Jas will map a realistic plan with you at consultation rather than promise permanence that hormonal clients rarely get.
How long do I have to skip makeup after a face session?
Twenty-four hours minimum, ideally forty-eight. Freshly-treated skin is mildly inflamed at follicle level — makeup product (especially long-wear and mineral foundations) sits in pores you don't want clogged while they recover. Tinted moisturiser or pressed powder is the earliest you should layer anything; full base waits two days. Lipstick and brows are fine immediately.
Will laser help with hormonal facial hair specifically — chin, upper lip, jawline?
Yes, with honest expectations. The x5 course at £90 reduces hormonal facial hair to about 70-80% permanent clearance; remaining hair tends to be finer and lighter. If PCOS, post-pregnancy, or perimenopausal hormones continue to drive new growth, you'll need maintenance sessions every 6-12 months thereafter — not because laser failed, but because the hormonal driver remains active. Jas can plan a realistic timeline at consultation, and discuss whether GP support (treating the hormone driver itself) alongside laser would compound results.
